July Brings Management Changes at CSRC and at the Rotary District Level
This past week marked changes in the management of the CSRC in Chapala as well as a move to a new and larger Rotary district (4140) with a new Governor.
Locally, a new CSRC Board of Directors was installed on Thursday June 30 at a special dinner at Manix restaurant to honor outgoing president Sheila Paull The new board contains elected officers Walter Thornton Jr. (President), Sandra Loridans (Club Administrator), Dwayne Hartup (Treasurer) and Beverly Denton (Secretary) as well as several appointed Committee Chairs.

The two CSRC Presidents – Walter and Sheila – each designed a banner to decorate the entrance to the dining room at Manix for the event. Sheila’s was full of witty wisdom, and Walter’s had a bit of a shrimp theme, reflecting his business.
On Saturday evening (July 2), things shifted up to the Rotary District level, with the installation of a new District Governor, Ricardo “Cerillo” Partida Preciado, who replaces outdoing Governor Antonio Carrillo. The district has also changed numbers – it’s now Rotary District 4140, and is much larger, including the Mexican states of Queretaro, Guanajuato, Michoacan, Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit and Sinaloa. It's now the largest Rotary District in Latin America. Chapala Sunrise Rotary Club Administrator Sandra Loridans will serve as one of Governor Partida’s Assistants in the coming year.
The event took place at the Tapatio Hotel in Guadalajara with members from all seven states attending, including several CSRC members. It was attended by Past Governors of the two former Districts; incoming Governor’s Committees; Damas (Ladies) Committees, and many special guests. The featured speaker at the event was author and former Rotary International President Frank Devlyn who also gave the Oath of Office to the new Governor.
